Basic Etiquettes of Driving
It may have been years or decades since you got your driver’s license. However long it has been, it’s always a good idea to refresh your memory on the basic etiquettes of driving.

One thing you should always remember is to acknowledge the other drivers on the road. Making gestures or hand signals when allowing others to pass before you, or when you do so yourself is a great piece of advice on the road. Even in your car, other drivers can see you, and doing these gestures can go a long way.

Using the shoulder of the road only for an emergency is another driving etiquette you should follow. In some states, this is even written into law. Using it for any other purpose can minimize room for those drivers who actually do find themselves in an emergency situation. You wouldn’t want to be in the reverse situation, without any room to pull over.

Similarly, you should only use the exit lane for the purpose of exiting. Driving in the exit lane solely to speed through the traffic is considered bad manners.

Perhaps one of the most obvious things you can do is refrain from tailgating other drivers. Tailgating is not only annoying, but it could also increase the chances of you getting into an accident—if the driver ahead of you decides to brake suddenly. The distance of at least one car length should be found between you and any driver ahead of you.

Another very important way you can be courteous while driving is by refraining from distracted driving. When talking on the phone or using your phone to text, you are greatly reducing your attention span on the road and other drivers. It would behoove you to focus your entire attention on the road, and to check your phone at a later time.

If you find that you already follow these simply driving etiquettes, then good for you! Perhaps you can reward yourself by spicing up your vehicle. What better way to do so than get colored seat belts? At the company Seat Belt Restore, you can choose from a variety of different colored seat belts. Whether you choose Ferrari Red or Neon Green, your custom colored seat belts will make you proud of driving your car. When you’re proudly driving your car, you’re probably more likely to keep following these driving etiquettes, too—which is a win-win for everyone.
